Building Sustainable Imaging Services in Rural Oklahoma
Geography: Rural

The Challenge
Before partnering with BB Imaging, several areas in rural Oklahoma—including Hilton, Love County, and Tishomingo—lacked adequate ultrasound services. Patients were often forced to travel long distances or forgo essential imaging altogether. Additionally, clinics within this healthcare system are often spread hours apart, making it difficult to maintain consistent sonography coverage across the region. High sonographer turnover further complicated staffing, leaving many sites without the expertise necessary to deliver sustainable services.
Without onsite imaging, inpatients were frequently transferred elsewhere for scans, which delayed diagnoses and increased the financial burden for patients and the system.
The BB Imaging Solution
BB Imaging rapidly deployed experienced sonographers, launching onsite services with an average contract-to-coverage time of just 15 days. A dedicated sonographer now rotates between Hilton, Love County, and Tishomingo weekly, supported by three float sonographers for continuous coverage.
Beyond staffing, BB Imaging provided portable ultrasound equipment, implemented standardized clinical protocols, and streamlined workflows across locations, ensuring services could be launched and sustained efficiently. The partnership also helped clinics expand local cardiovascular care, allowing patients to access comprehensive imaging without leaving their communities.
The Results

Local Access Restored
Patients can now receive essential scans within their communities, reducing travel burdens and improving continuity of care.
Scalable Partnership
What began as support for three clinics has grown into BB Imaging staffing 7 of the healthcare system’s sites across Oklahoma.
Efficient Rural Coverage
BB Imaging sonographers fill over 97% of PRN requests and travel as needed to staff clinics five days a week, contributing to consistent, high-quality care.
